At the 52nd meeting of the British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes in Sheffield (12-14 November, 2025), PC PAL presented the latest features of the leading digital growth charting application, GrowthXP, which integrates with electronic patient record systems. Interest in growth charting was stimulated following the presentation of a new NHS-wide audit of the digital growth charts used throughout the NHS (to which PC PAL provided input).
The findings reflect what many UK paediatricians have shared with us over recent years: digital growth chart provision across the NHS is highly variable. Some hospitals continue to rely on a limited set of charts within their patient record system, while others lack access to digital charting tools altogether. Many specialists also reported restricted functionality, such as an inability to calculate precise height and weight SDS, mid-parental height, or access essential charts such as head circumference.
Importantly, the NHS audit highlighted a widespread lack of condition-specific growth charts, even for well-recognised conditions including Noonan, Turner, and Prader–Willi syndromes. As a purpose-built child growth charting application, GrowthXP offers users a wealth of charts, including over 50 rare conditions, and provides automatic calculation of derived metrics, including target height (TH) and TH SDS.
With such a comprehensive growth charting resource it is no surprise that nearly 20% of the world’s leading hospitals put their trust in PC PAL medical software products.
